Burnt Forest

I often walk through thousands of acres of forest burned in Nova Scotia in 2008. Nobody else goes there.

“As you start to walk on the way, the way appears.” Rumi

The Way appears, and everything is alive, reaching into you.

In response to Scriptures from the Firelands, I wrote:

When I was a kid, I would go to the synagogue on Saturday mornings because I had to. Walking home, I would see that the leaves on the street and gum wrappers in the gutter were pages making up a Torah I understood.

Seeing every element in nature as letters making up Torah is taking every fork in the road at the same time.
